Our full-day adventure takes you deep into Colorado’s backcountry to experience what it’s really like to be a musher. Learn to drive your own dog team, care for the dogs, and explore breathtaking mountain trails across Dunckley Pass. Stop midday for a warm, catered lunch with your team before continuing through scenic terrain — a day filled with learning, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities. Every Full Day Learn to Mush adventure is carefully designed so that every participant—whether driving, learning, or simply soaking in the scenery—has a rewarding and memorable experience.

Drivers and Riders

Guests will be paired with guides for coaching, support, and safety throughout the day. Each person will have the chance to learn the basics of mushing, from handling and caring for the dogs to driving the sled down the trail. Trips are tailored for small groups to ensure everyone gets hands-on time and personal instruction.

Lunch & Midday Camp Stop

Halfway through the day, your group will stop at a scenic backcountry camp. Enjoy a warm catered lunch and drinks while the dogs rest. This peaceful stop provides time for photos, connection, and breathtaking mountain views.

Trail & Terrain

The trail runs through Dunckley Pass in the White River National Forest, offering expansive views of the Flat Tops, the Zirkel Wilderness Area, and Steamboat Ski Resort. You’ll travel through open meadows, forested terrain, and snow-covered valleys that make this a quintessential Colorado experience.

Shuttle Service

Round-trip, door-to-door shuttle service is available for an additional fee.
Pricing: $25–$45 per person, depending on pickup location (Steamboat Springs, Oak Creek, or Phippsburg).

Weight Limits per Sled

  • 450 lbs max for 2-person sleds

  • 550 lbs max for 3-person sleds (no more than 3 adults)

  • If 2 adults together exceed 450 lbs, they may drive a 3-person sled at 1.5x the adult rate (please call to book).

Guided Option

Available for guests who prefer to relax or have physical limitations.

  • Up to 2 adults in a guided sled

  • Small children may ride with an adult

Gratuity Policy

A 15% gratuity is recommended.
Groups of 3 or more have an automatic 15% gratuity added to their reservation.

Deposit & Cancellation Policy

Guests must change or cancel reservations 4 days prior to their scheduled excursion. Once they receive the reminder, they must call and email immediately with any changes. No changes inside of 72 hours, people may communicate changes but should expect to pay in full for their reservation.
